On the Road

Left Palermo Sunday morning on the shuttle bus to the airport.  Picked up our rental car (a Lancia) and braved some Italian driving to get to Castellammare De Golfo in the north west part of Sicily.

Little did we know Carnivale was being celebrated in town that evening, with a parade just a couple of blocks from where we were staying.

On Monday we much more bravely drove up to Erice, ancient city with some great panoramic views - on days when it is clear - not the case today.  Still had a fine wonder around the old narrow streets and imagined what we might have seen.

Followed up with a visit toZingaro Nature Reserve, the first established in Sicily.

Hopefully you might be able to read the following poster with some of the story of its founding.
